IMAX pacts with Barco for many years
Imax has drawn on Barco since it's exclusive projector provider for the following seven years. Underneath the pact, Imax will install an enhanced version of Barco's Xenon-based projectors in Imax theaters waiting for upgrading, in addition to new theater installations. The 2 companies works together to handle the transition to laser-driven projectors, that they be prepared to start implementing in 2013. Imax has pacted with Kodak to make use of Kodak's laser projection technology. Belgium-based Bargo has licensed Kodak's laser projection IP. Finally month's Moody Gardens Digital Cinema Symposium in Texas, Barco shown a laser projector showing a 4K movie on the 70-feet screen, with brightness and color surpassing what Xenon-based projector.
